Why I can tell

Most people who evaluate your build have never run a company. Most people who understand your business have never shipped anything. In that gap, projects quietly go wrong.

I’ve spent eleven years in it: four SaaS companies, the code, the marketing, the sales, the support. Sold to Fortune 500s including SAP and Harvard. I’ve architected systems myself and reviewed architecture built by others. The times I got it wrong taught me more than the times it went well.

The cost of building software has moved. The prices quoted for it haven’t. But the expensive mistakes aren’t coding problems: what got built first, what should have been bought instead of written, what got spent before anyone checked people wanted it. None of it shows up in a code review.

The mistake I can catch in your build is one I’ve already paid for in mine.
